A very distant port side view of an unidentified Royal Navy diesel-electric submarine surfacing during exercise Sally Forth in the North Sea off the Firth of Forth. Only her bow and the top of her conning tower can be seen as she rises. The submarines Otter (1961) and Rorqual (1956) were participants in the exercise. The photographer is on board the guided missile destroyer Bristol (1969).
