On board the Royal Navy coastal minehunter Bossington (1955) in the Suez Canal near Port Said. The Bossington, together with the Maxton (1956) and Wilton (1972) and the support ship Abdiel (1967) were taking part in Operation Rheostat One, the clearance of ordnance from the Suez Canal between April and November 1974. The photographer is looking at a padlocked door in the superstructure. On the door are nine badges representing STANAVFORCHAN and the ships that were in it, including Bossington. STANAVFORCHAN (Standing Naval Force Channel) was formed in May 1973 and the Bossington served in it from May to December 1973. A vertical format negative.
