On board the Royal Navy coastal minehunter Bossington (1955) in the Suez Canal near Port Said. The Bossington, together with the Maxton (1956) and Wilton (1972) and the support ship Abdiel (1967) were taking part in Operation Rheostat One, the clearance of ordnance from the Suez Canal between April and November 1974. The photographer is on the starboard side of the sweep deck abreast the winch looking forward showing the Gemini dinghy davit, the forward superstructure, the tripod mast and the funnel. The circular blue and white emblem of the Suez Canal Authority is fixed to the funnel and the ship is displaying the international flag hoist and rule of the road navigation daymark showing she is at anchor. A vertical format negative.
