On board the Royal Navy coastal minehunter Bossington (1955) in the Suez Canal near Port Said. The Bossington, together with the Maxton (1956) and Wilton (1972) and the support ship Abdiel (1967) were taking part in Operation Rheostat One, the clearance of ordnance from the Suez Canal between April and November 1974. The photographer is on the starboard side of the forecastle deck abreast the bridge looking forward showing the 40 mm Bofors gun on the left and three crew members relaxing under the awning which is spread above the entire forecastle. Two of the crew are looking down over the starboard bow.
