On board The Royal Naval Reserve coastal minesweeper Mersey (1957) during the NATO exercise Northern Merger in the North Sea off the Danish coast. The photographer is on the port side of the sweep deck abreast the minesweeping winch looking aft and to starboard showing members of the crew preparing to stream the first oropesa float from the starboard davit. Two Oropesa floats are stowed on the port side, another is still stowed on the starboard side and outboard of it is the Type L diverter float.
