On board the Royal Naval Reserve coastal minesweeper Mersey (1957) during the NATO exercise Northern Merger in the North Sea off the Danish coast. The photographer is on the starboard side of the bridge deck looking aft and to starboard showing the sweep deck. The ship is in Condition Zulu and crew members are wearing anti-flash hoods. In the distance off the starboard quarter and seen from wide off her port bow is an unidentified Ton class sweeper, presumably also a unit of the 10th (RNR) Mine Counter Measures Squadron.
