On board the Royal Naval Reserve coastal minesweeper Mersey (1957) during the NATO exercise Northern Merger in the North Sea off the Danish coast. The photographer is on the centreline of the bridge deck looking aft showing the funnel and the sweep deck. The ship is in Condition Zulu and a crew member in the foreground is wearing anti-flash gear. Well astern and seen from fine off her starboard bow is an unidentified Ton class sweeper, presumably also a unit of the 10th (RNR) Mine Counter Measures Squadron.
