On board the Royal Naval Reserve coastal minesweeper Mersey (1957) during the NATO exercise Northern Merger in the North Sea off the Danish coast. The photographer is on the port side of the aft end of the forecastle deck looking aft showing the funnel on the left with the oerlikon gun deck, the Type B magnetic cable reel and the Type B winch further aft. A line of crew members are on the port side of the sweep deck having hauled in the acoustic sweep power cable while the acoustic noise producer can be seen suspended from the port quarter davit.
