In the hangar on board the United States Navy aircraft carrier Nimitz (1972) while she is anchored at Spithead during her shakedown cruise in the North Atlantic and European waters. Bunting is hanging from the deckhead as the ship prepares to open to visitors. The photographer is looking forward from the aft end of the hangar showing the McDonnell Douglas F4J Phantom 155523 of Squadron VMFA-333 on the left with her squadron mate 155527 on the right. In the centre are two of the ship's boats on a double tier cradle. Two of the crew are cleaning the deck with mops.
