'HMS Fisgard and bridge 11 October 1921'
A view forward and to the left of part of the stern of Fisgard III (ex HMS Terrible, 1895), taken from the bows of HMS Fisgard I (ex HMS Spartiate, 1898) moored at its stern. Part of the old Captain's walkway (balcony) can be seen, along with the additional superstructures added to the upper decks. The start of the ship's original name ('TERR..') can just be read below the current name 'FISG..'
To the left of the ships, off the port side of Fisgard III, is a tall wooden jetty (bridge) with steps leading to the water. Small ship's boats are moored off the steps. In the background is the land around Hardway to the north of Gosport.
The original negative envelope was labelled: 'HMS Fisgard and bridge 11.10.21'.
