The wooden bridge leading to the landing stage off HMS Fisgard

A view from the port stern open bridge of the static artificer training ship HMS Fisgard I (ex Spartiate, 1898) looking forward along the boat deck towards HMS Fisgard III (ex HMS Terrible, 1895). To the left is the tall wooden jetty (bridge) leading to a set of steps in front of which is a steam vessel. A group of ship's boats are moored between the ships and the jetty steps.

Moored in the background are the destroyers (left-right) HMS Rob Roy (1916) with the pendant number HOA on the stern, HMS Truant (1918) with HA9 on the stern and an unidentified destroyer with a partially readable pendant number (- - 8) on the stern. An unidentified steam yacht is moored alongside this destroyer.

A second batch of destroyers is moored ahead of these ships. They include (right-left) either HMS Porpoise (1913) or HMS Melpomene (1915) or HMS Oriole (1916) but the identity is not certain as the letter in the pendant number on the stern is not visible. It could be H86, G86 or F86 on the stern for each of the above. HMS Simoom (1918) with HA8 on the stern is alongside this destroyer.

The original negative envelope was labelled: 'HMS Fisgard bridge 10.5.21'.
