On board the Royal Navy commando carrier Hermes (1953) in the Norwegian Sea off the northern Norwegian coast during the NATO exercise Atlas Express which lasted from 18 February to 20 March 1976. The photographer is on the flight deck watching a Westland Wessex HU.5 helicopter of 845 Naval Air Squadron approaching from off the port quarter. A man and a Land Rover are in the foreground and a tracked Snowcat tractor is on the end of the flight deck.
