The photographer is looking aft from the starboard side of the bridge abreast the lattice mast showing the starboard derrick, the funnel and the sweep deck. The ship is the divisional leader of the Fishery Protection Squadron as indicated by the band on the funnel. in the distance is the Whitby registered motor trawler Ard Aidhm (1961), WY 135, with her stern towards the Cuxton, stopped with her trawl boards and nets on her starboard beam and the Cuxton's gemini dinghy alongside her port side.
