NATO amphibious exercise Northern Wedding in the Shetland Islands

A general view of an unidentified loch in the Shetland Islands being used for amphibious landings by a task force of nine United States warships during the NATO exercise Northern Wedding. The photographer is on shore looking across the loch showing the loaded U.S. LCU 1662 (1971) (Landing Craft Utility) under way with her bow ramp lowered as she approaches the shore behind a smoke screen produced by a smoke pot on shore. A long line of vehicles is on the road in front of houses on the far side of the loch.
