The hulk of the former Greek submarine Argonaftis (1944) berthed at Pasajes, Spain

A close detail of the conning tower of the former Greek submarine Argonaftis (1944) at Pasajes. The photographer is looking forward and to starboard from the quayside showing the top of the conning tower. A wooden sentry box is on deck just ahead of the conning tower. An empty steel lighter is alongside the boat. The Argonaftis (1944) was being towed from Malta to the Tyne in December 1958 when she broke adrift and stranded on the North Spanish coast. The hulk was refloated and towed into Pasajes 6 January 1959. She was broken up there during April 1961.
