An informal group of 28 officers and men at the forward operating base of a detachment of 845 Naval Air Commando Squadron at Nanga Gaat in the jungle of Sarawak, which operated from 19 August 1963 to 23 June 1965 during the Indonesian and Malaysian Confrontation. Three Royal Navy lieutenants and one Royal Marine Commando are sitting in the front row and the officer on the right is Lieutenant Malcolm Kennard. The man standing on the right of the back row is Sub-Lieutenant Derek Tracey. The Westland Wessex HAS.1 helicopter XS 127 coded B/B forms the backdrop.
