The anchorage at Ajaccio, Corsica

The anchorage at Ajaccio, Corsica, seen from the waterfront. An Orient Line passenger liner, seen from off her starboard bow, is at anchor in the bay. There were five of these ships built between 1924 and 1929 and they were all used for occasional cruising. A single masted sailing dinghy is stern-on in the foreground. In the background are two French Navy battleships of the Bretagne class. The far side of the bay is backed by wooded hill slopes and mountains. The negative is unsharp.
