The anchorage at Ajaccio, Corsica
The anchorage at Ajaccio, Corsica, seen from the waterfront. The Ellerman Line passenger/cargo liner City of Nagpur (1922), seen from off her starboard bow, is dressed overall while at anchor in the bay and one of her motor lifeboats is approaching the quay laden with passengers. A lascar seaman is standing in the bow with a boathook at the ready. The bow of an unidentified brigantine is alongside a breakwater on the left of the picture. A single masted racing yacht and a two masted cruising yacht are under sail in the bay. The far side of the bay is backed by wooded hill slopes and mountains.
