A distant port quarter view of the Orient Line passenger cruise liner Orcades (1937) anchored off Alexandretta, Turkey, taken from the shore. A group of local women and children are sitting on the beach by the rowing boat Yavuz, registered IS. H.D. 271. A small goat is tethered to the boat. A former Royal Navy KIL class gunboat of 1918-1919 converted to a merchant cargo ship is at anchor on the left. A large number of these vessels were registered under Italian owners, the Salam had an Egyptian owner and the San Gorg had a Maltese owner.
