The north corner of the harbour at Algiers as seen from the north breakwater looking west. A number of motor launches, cabin cruisers, yachts and dinghies are in the foreground. Two steam tugs and a number of pontoons are berthed stern on to the quay. A vessel owned by Charles Schiaffino & Co is at anchor on the left with the Compagnie Generale Transatlantique terminal building beyond it. The harbour is backed by roads at two levels and fronting the harbour at water level is a single storey building with Chambre de Commerce Hangar No. 2 on it. A row of four and five storey buildings front the upper road including the premises of the Credit Lyonnais, the Brasserie Universelle, the Grand Hotel de L'Oasis, the Royal Hotel and Robes.
