Looking west-by-north across the north harbour at Algiers from the east breakwater. The Compagnie Generale Transatlantique terminal quay is on the left with the premises of Charles Schiaffino & Co. behind it. An unidentified passenger/cargo ship is berthed stern-on to the quay on the right and she has four pontoons laden with cargo alongside her. The Chambre of Commerce building is on the extreme right with a lift tower from the waterfront to the upper roadway beyond it. Another lift tower is on the extreme left. The Hotel Oasis is facing the upper roadway to the left of centre.
