Fighting ships at sea, 1890s
Two black and grey wash study drawings, one above the other on one sheet, of naval vessels of the 1890s, though not of specifically recognizable classes. The upper one appears to show two or three first-class torpedo boats in line ahead making heavy smoke. The lower one shows a first-class torpedo boat making passage escorting a battleship. The artist's intention is probably an exercise to show the fleet on manoeuvres.
