Horse artillery firing a field gun salute
original art: drawing. Horse artillery firing a muzzle-loaded field-gun with a crowd behind and the masts of two sailing vessels in the distance. The event is probably a review on Southsea Common, after 1918 (see PAE1385), though if so it is hard to account for the two ships offshore behind. The horse in this view starts at the noise of the gun. See also PAD 9950, PAD9959, PAD9969, which may be of the same event. [PvdM 3/12]
