Dues Ajuda Quem Trabalha

A very good and complete example of the Dory type of fishing boat used aboard larger mother vessels. The craft illustrates the simple but effective design and construction of the North American Dory type. These boats were designed to be stacked inside each other on deck of the larger mother ship, as the thwarts were removable. They were operated by one person who would be fishing for cod using a baited long line over the side.

It is one of a large selection of working craft in use from around the world. It is one of several examples in the collection of flat bottom construction together with sawn frames to which broad and curved planks were fastened. It is also one of several in the collection which illustrates a different type of fishing, such as netting and pots.
