The north end of the commercial port at Bahia, Brazil, from on board the passenger cruise liner Gripsholm (1925).

The north end of the commercial port at Bahia, Brazil, looking north-north-east from the port side of the aft end of the games deck on board the passenger cruise ship Gripsholm (1925) which is berthing alongside Number 8 Shed. One of the ship's officers is standing on the aft pilot bridge holding a megaphone while the ship manoeuvres into position. The jib of a floating crane is abaft the Gripsholm (1925). Single and two masted gaff rigged sailing craft are alongside the quay and the boat in the right foreground, named Eduardo No. 5899, is loaded with hardwood logs. Rail mounted cranes numbers 10 and 11, a steam railway tank locomotive and heaps of coal are on the quay. In the background on the far side of the bay is the Catholic Igreja São Joaquim, partly obscured by the signal projector on the pilot bridge.
