On board the Orient Line cruise ship Orford (1928) in an unknown port with the Cunard Line passenger liner Alaunia (1925) alongside a wharf on the left. The photographer is on the port side of the aft promenade deck looking forward and to port showing passengers on deck looking out at the docks scene. Luggage, consisting of large trunks and suitcases, is piled on the deck by lifeboat number 18. On the left and seen from abaft her port beam is the Cunard Line transatlantic passenger liner Alaunia (1925) which was occasionally used for cruises. Her bow is out of the picture.
