Two sketches of breech-loading guns being fired on board large warships about 1890. The upper sketch shows a traversing gun on a fixed, wheeled mounting firing through an embrasure or casemate. The lower sketch is of a gun on a fixed slide mounting with limited traverse and fired by lanyard. [
