Looking north from near the passenger landing steps on the south side of the Careenage, Bridgetown, Barbados, showing the bow of a vessel named Ida in the left foreground. The Blackwoods Screw Dock is next to the steps on the right and two of the tall screw threaded uprights of the dock are clearly visible. The 2 masted schooner rigged, Ramsgate registered, former fishing trawler Quartette (1895) is alongside the quay next to the screw dock and two other schooners are berthed ahead of her. A 2 masted schooner is berthed alongside The Wharf Road on the north side of the Careenage next to the premises of T.S. Garraway & Co Ltd. and the premises of Robert Thom Ltd is on the left of the picture. The clock tower of the Public Building in Broad Street is in the centre background and the clock is reading 10.43. A vertical format negative.
