The Careenage at Bridgetown, Barbados. The photographer is on the south side near Blackwoods Screw Dock looking west showing the wharves and buildings at the west end of The Wharf Road. A special event is taking place as the wharves are packed with spectators who are occupying every vantage point, including the quayside cranes and the roofs of the adjacent buildings. The central buildings are the premises of Da Costa & Co Ltd., agents for the Costa Steamship Co . Ltd. A rowing boat owned by G. Farley and numbered 158 and a cargo lighter are being sculled across the harbour.
