HMS Ark Royal (1950)

No 4 [Lower Gallery] Deck, location E. Interior of the ship's bakery, looking towards the scuttle at frames 39/40. Despite the refit this area appears to be in regular use, with kneading boards and rolling pins out on the work surface, cups and plates in the sink and new tins of baking powder on the shelves.

This is part of a series of photographs taken during the final stages of HMS Ark Royal's last major refit which was completed in 1970. The location references are derived from the deck plans in the latest edition of the ship's NBCD book.
