HMS Ark Royal (1950)

No. 5 [Lower Hangar] Deck, location 5D. Interior of the Senior Ratings' Dining Hall, looking to port along the line of bulkhead 25. The tables have been laid with cutlery and bottled water. To the immediate right is a large stack of cardboard boxes containing various items of tableware, with a hot water urn visible just beyond them. Opposite this is a servery table and a cereal rack, and to the left is a rotated perspective deck plan for the guidance of the crew. Next to the plan is a photograph of a British nuclear attack submarine.

This is part of a series of photographs taken during the final stages of HMS Ark Royal's last major refit which was completed in 1970. The location references are derived from the deck plans in the latest edition of the ship's NBCD book.
