Santa Anna Bay, the Waaigat, the floating market and the Punda district at Willemstad, Curacao. The photographer is looking south-east-by-east from on board the outbound passenger cruise ship Kungsholm (1928) in Santa Anna Bay. The bow of the German cargo ship Alemania (1921) with a timber laden lighter alongside her bow, is berthed on the Curacao Trading Company wharf north of the Waaigat. Small sailing vessels are berthed on the De Ruyterkade in the Waaigat as the floating market and they all have awnings rigged above their decks. Motor vehicles are parked on the square and the stern of the 2-masted schooner Maria (fl. 1930), registered at Curacao, can be seen alongside the Punda district quay on the right. The buildings fronting the bay include the premises of the All America Cables Inc.
