No. 3 [Upper Hangar] Deck, location 3C. Looking aft from near the centreline of the Cable Deck. To the right a small group of sailors can be seen conversing near the steam capstan for the starboard anchors. The door beyond the cable reels on the left leads into an airlock.

This is part of a series of photographs taken during the final stages of HMS Ark Royal's last major refit which was completed in 1970. The location references are derived from the deck plans in the latest edition of the ship's NBCD book.
