HMS Ark Royal (1950)

No. 2 [Upper Gallery] Deck, location 2LA1. Looking to port from the starboard side of the ship in the vicinity of frame 98, and focusing on the overhead pipework beneath the flight deck. The open watertight door to the right leads into 2K1. The grill mesh beyond the two workmen is part of downtake 7LA0, which also serves the hangar.

This is part of a series of photographs taken during the final stages of HMS Ark Royal's last major refit which was completed in 1970. The location references are derived from the deck plans in the latest edition of the ship's NBCD book.
