The shipbuilding yard of Schichau-Werke at Ostrow Island in the delta of the Vistula River at Danzig. A floating crane and a chain bucket dredger are in the centre of the picture. Beyond them is the German Navy fleet support ship Ermland (1939) which is fitting out. On the right is the Norwegian cargo liner Tamesis (1939) seen from off her starboard bow. She was launched 13 May 1939 and completed in September 1939. On the left is floating dock No. 1 of the International Shipbuilding & Engineering Co. Ltd, formerly the Danziger Werft Schiffs und Maschinenbauanstalt. An hammerhead crane dominates the background.
