The quayside at 'A' Berth in Durban harbour, South Africa, with a passenger cruise ship about to depart. The photographer is on board the ship looking aft and to starboard towards The Bluff. An Union-Castle Mail S.S. Co. Ltd gangway is being prepared for lifting away from the ship. Paper streamers have been thrown down from the ship's rails and are littering the quayside. A large number of people are on the quaysde to bid farewell to the ship and the end of the quay is packed with parked cars.
