The village of Ulvik on Ulvikfjord, Norway.
The village of Ulvik on the west shore of Ulvikfjord, Norway. The photographer is on board the Orient Line passenger cruise ship Orontes (1929) which is at anchor. The timber yard and sawmill with its tall chimney is to the left of centre with the impressive Brakanes Hotel next to it. A large residential building, possibly another hotel, and Ulvik church are on the right. Other buildings are scattered amongst the trees and the top of the hill is densely wooded with mountains beyond. One of the ship's motor lifeboats is returning to the ship from the shore.
