The Canadian Pacific passenger cruise ship Duchess of Richmond (1928) anchored off Freetown, Sierra Leone with local craft in the foreground.

A very distant port broadside view of the Canadian Pacific passenger cruise ship Duchess of Richmond (1928) at anchor off Freetown, Sierra Leone. She is dressed overall and has her aft accommodation ladder deployed but everything forward of the forefunnel is out of the picture. In the foreground are two local craft fully laden with people most of whom are using paddles to help propel the boats. Each boat has a single mast projecting forward and the boat on the right has a sail rigged from this mast. In the right background is a cargo steamer of the American-West African-Lines at anchor.
