No. 4 [Lower Gallery] Deck, location 4V2. Interior of the Mooring Space, looking aft. The ladder in the centre of the picture leads up towards the motorboat stowage sponson. To the immediate left is a winch and just visible beyond it a watertight door leading to the cabins on this deck. Part of the dock area is visible through the opening in the shell on the right, on which can be seen parked an RN Mobile Clothing Shop van.

This is part of a series of photographs taken during the final stages of HMS Ark Royal's last major refit which was completed in 1970. The location references are derived from the deck plans in the latest edition of the ship's NBCD book.
