HMS Ark Royal (1950)

No. 4 [Lower Gallery] Deck, location 4P2. Interior of the Mooring Space, looking aft from abreast down take 7PA0. Shoring planks are stowed in overhead racks and an equipment box is bolted to the deck at left. To the right are miscellaneous items of equipment, including coils of rope and rattan floats. The watertight door in the opposite bulkhead leads to the water closets in 4Q2.

This is part of a series of photographs taken during the final stages of HMS Ark Royal's last major refit which was completed in 1970. The location references are derived from the deck plans in the latest edition of the ship's NBCD book.
