HMS Ark Royal (1950)

No. 3 [Upper Hangar] Deck. The aft end of the hangar space, looking to port from the vicinity of frame 165. Among the miscellaneous items of equipment on deck are the doorway to the armoured compartment at 3V2-400, an aircraft electrical servicing point, a NATO air panel, an Avcat fueling/defueling point, fire point no. 12, and a ladder leading to the large storage shelves at Upper Gallery deck level.

This is part of a series of photographs taken during the final stages of HMS Ark Royal's last major refit which was completed in 1970. The location references are derived from the deck plans in the latest edition of the ship's NBCD book.
