HMS Ark Royal (1950)

No. 3 [Upper Hangar] Deck. The interior of the hangar space, looking to port from the vicinity of frame 109. An aircraft electrical servicing station can be seen on the left, adjacent to an open doorway leads to the space adjacent to corridor 3M2. To the right of these is an area for ejector seat stowage, a workstation with a ship's telephone and an unarmoured door leading to No. 1 Aircraft Maintenance Office. On the deck to the left are portable electric fans, and to the right a large pile of folding chairs.

This is part of a series of photographs taken during the final stages of HMS Ark Royal's last major refit which was completed in 1970. The location references are derived from the deck plans in the latest edition of the ship's NBCD book.
