HMS Ark Royal (1950)

No. 3 [Upper Hangar] Deck. Interior of the hangar, looking to starboard from the vicinity of frame 145. To the left is the doorway for access to the forward part of the hangar when the fire curtain has been deployed, while to the right are fire Point no. 11 and the watertight door leading to access lobby 3TI-00. In between these is stowage space for aircraft drop tank handling poles.

This is part of a series of photographs taken during the final stages of HMS Ark Royal's last major refit which was completed in 1970. The location references are derived from the deck plans in the latest edition of the ship's NBCD book.
