HMS Ark Royal (1950)

No. 1 [Flight] Deck. Close view of the walkway running along the portside edge of the flight deck. This picture was taken looking aft in the vicinity of frame 123. The structure in the rear left is a covered observation post for the flight deck crew located some way forward of the DLPS [Deck Landing Projector Sight].

This is part of a series of photographs taken during the final stages of HMS Ark Royal's last major refit which was completed in 1970. The location references are derived from the deck plans in the latest edition of the ship's NBCD book.
