At least two sets of the keys grant access to the salvage suction systems. In the centre is a mounted chart displaying information on the state of fuel and water aboard the ship. To the right is an unoccupied communications station that shows signs of recent habitation (empty tea cup and a pack of Rothmans cigarettes).

This is part of a series of photographs taken during the final stages of HMS Ark Royal's last major refit which was completed in 1970. The location references are derived from the deck plans in the latest edition of the ship's NBCD book.
