No. 3 [Upper Hangar] Deck, location 3C. Theport side of the Cable Deck in the vicinity of frame 8, looking to port. In the centre and to the right are some benches for off-duty crewmen.Beyond the leftmost bench is the doorway through the shell leading to a deployed accommodation ladder. To the left of that are two mushroom vents and a tarpulin-covered cable reel. Shoring planks are stowed overhead on the left.

This is part of a series of photographs taken during the final stages of HMS Ark Royal's last major refit which was completed in 1970. The location references are derived from the deck plans in the latest edition of the ship's NBCD book.
