No. 4 [Lower Gallery] Deck, location 4G1. The starboard deck space in the vicinity of frame 80, looking aft. To the immediate left is the hatchway leading down to the Junior Ratings' Mess at 5G7. Ahead near the bulkhead at frame 63 is a deck locker with a number of stretchers stacked on it. Behind these are three cylinders on wall mounts, and adjacent to these a locker for a Neil Robertson stretcher. A detached section of ladder is lying on the deck on the right.

This is part of a series of photographs taken during the final stages of HMS Ark Royal's last major refit which was completed in 1970. The location references are derived from the deck plans in the latest edition of the ship's NBCD book.
