The west side of the north end of Gibraltar
The west side of the north end of Gibraltar looking east from on board a passenger cruise ship. Alongside the Western Arm and seen from off her starboard beam is the Dutch cargo liner Heemskerk (1919). Three Royal Navy destroyers are in the harbour with the Escort (1934), pendant H66 to the right of the Electra (1934), pendant H27, which is alongside an unidentified sister ship. These destroyers were units of the 5th Destroyer Flotilla of the Home Fleet which was temporarily transferred to the Mediterranean during the Abyssinian crisis. Signal Hill is on the right and Willis Battery is on the left.
