The Alameda Grand Parade, Gibraltar
The Alameda Grand Parade at Gibraltar. The photographer is looking west from the east side of the Parade showing two divisions of men from the Royal Navy battlecruiser Hood (1918) marching past a band which is standing on the parade ground. The sailors are carrying rifles with bayonets fixed. The parade is being watched by civilians and in the foreground is a pair of 10 inch, 18 ton, Mark II rifled muzzle loading cannon mounted on fixed iron carriages. In the distance is a Royal Navy battleship, either the Nelson (1925) or the Rodney (1925), at anchor in the Bay of Gibraltar.
