The photographer is on board an unidentified Orient Line passenger cruise ship which is heading north-north-east towards Gibraltar. He is on the centreline just ahead of the superstructure looking forward and slightly to starboard showing the ship's foremast, the starboard kingpost, the forecastle and lifeboat number 1 in her davits. The west side of Gibraltar is in the distance with Europa Flats on the right and Willis Battery peak in the centre.
